Oman Power Water Procurement Issues Multiple Strategic Energy Tenders for 2026

Nama Power and Water Procurement Company of Oman has launched several significant tender solicitations in 2026 as part of the Sultanate’s ambitious energy infrastructure expansion program. The state-owned entity serves as the single procurer of power and water capacity for Independent Power Projects and Independent Water and Power Projects throughout Oman.

Recent tender announcements include multiple initiatives targeting various energy sectors. The company issued tender OPWP/2026/17 seeking technical consultancy services for new gas-fired Independent Power Projects with a combined generation capacity of up to 2800MW using Combined Cycle Gas Turbine technology. This tender opened for document purchases from May 13 through May 20 2026 with bid submissions closing June 17 2026.

Additionally the procurement company launched tender OPWP/2026/16 for financial and commercial consultancy services related to the same gas-fired IPP developments. The tender documents became available electronically through the Nama PWP website with submissions due June 21 2026 at noon Oman time.

A separate green energy initiative emerged through tender OPWP/2026/011 exploring development of an 800-1000MW green hydrogen-based Independent Power Project. This renewable energy focused solicitation represents Oman’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050. The tender document purchase period ran from May 4 through May 31 2026 with a submission deadline of June 21 2026.

The procurement company requires all bidders to submit tender bonds or certified bank cheques equal to at least one percent of total bid values. These bonds must remain valid for 120 days from submission deadlines. Standard tender document fees are set at 105 Omani Rial though small and medium enterprises holding valid Riyada cards can access documents without charge.

These strategic tenders support Oman’s electricity sector expansion plans and long-term energy requirements. The projects are considered critical for reliable and sustainable power sector development supporting the country’s broader economic growth objectives.

Nama Power and Water Procurement Company operates under the Nama Group structure and maintains responsibility for ensuring sufficient electricity and water production capacity at optimal economic terms. The organization publishes seven-year planning statements identifying new projects for competitive tender and private sector development.

The multiple tender initiatives demonstrate Oman’s balanced approach to energy development incorporating both traditional gas-fired generation and emerging renewable technologies including solar photovoltaic and green hydrogen production capabilities.
